Hi all,

is anybody aware of any regulations on this planet for the design of a mobile helicopter landing platform such as this one?

I've never heard of any regulations and saw many types of those platforms. They should be easy to move ( either motorized or towed by a minitruck ), smooth surface which does not become too slippery when wet and nothing should stick through the surface maybe except small breakable poles at the forward corners for reference during landing.

We have been involved in design, building, or modifying 3-4 different ones in the past several years. We have seen no regulatory data on any helo platform. There are a few considerations:
1. Make sure it is large enough to handle not just the dimensions of the helicopter, but give enough visible cues to the pilot to set it on the pad.
2. Make sure it is strong enough to handle the helo weight, fully loaded. (obvious) The surface should be non slip.
3. We have found that using at least six separate wheels, one castoring type at each of four corners and one non-castoring on the center sides aides in maneuvering.
4. Design a trailer type with fixed tong so the platform can be towed or pushed.
5. For all helo operations, make sure the wheels are chocked or braked to keep the platform from moving during start, run up, take off, etc. We usually tie off the tong to a ground tie down.

Anyway, good luck!
