In November 1971 an RAF F-4 crashed NNW of RDanishAF Airstation Karup, shortly after take off. A farm was destroyed and a woman and her daughter killed. Could anyone direct me to the "AIB-report" or why the aircraft crashed? The information is for a local TV-programme. The chairman of our local museum, a retired Cpt., who helped to recover the wreck has been approached by the TV-station.
Best Regards
Palle J. Christensen, ATCO, RDAF Airstation Karup.
PS. I believe the aircrew ejected safely?

Starter for Ten - According to my little book here, it was XV479 a 54 Sqn FGR2 on 12 Oct 1971.

Crew survived.

I was flying F-4s at the time and I vaguely remember the accident - a fire or engine failure after take-off and the wrong engine shut down.

The aircrew ejected safely.

It might also be worth talking to some of the old sweats from this site, they might very well remember it happening.
