How is US training for helicopters?

Is it like I heard it? Almost everybody once he gets his licence in CPL(H), Instrument Rating and Instructor Rating, he will get hired as an instructor and in an year or so he will have around 500-1000 hours?
How true is this?
I'm asking this because here in Canada once you are out of school, you will going to sweep floors for 2 years IF you are lucky, and maybe, maybe fly a few hundred hours per year IF you are lucky again.
Was it just a BIG mistake having the licence here in Canada?
Am I missing something?

I know nothing of the US but RSA (South Africa) does have a shortage of instructors and with and instructors rating and an IF rating you can pretty much get a job and be flying 50hours a month and that will bring you up pretty quick. Mostly R22's and 44's but good flying. Money is rubbish. great place to start off.

hi, firstly i know nothin about heli's but i was in arizona for 4 mths and the school in chandler was called quantum helicopters check them out, they had a very good rep according to the locals and flew all the time their pro course looks great. it might help. good luck.
