:OHi there

I have just today reciewed my BGS books for module one,and I have decided to read one subject at a time instead of the way BGS tells you to...

but can anybody advise me what subject is the first one to start with.

I may start with Comm, both IFR and VFR and then MASS and Balance and then HPL .....

Best to your all

As an ex student of BGS, several years ago, I would follow their advice. They know what they are talking about and the system works.
As the saying goes "if it ain't broke, why fix it"

Do it the bristol way, don't try and be clever and to it your way. It has worked this way for a long time with very good results, I can stand testoment to that. The progress tests you complete all the way through don't work by doing a subject at a time and also the study sections are grouped together to a certain amount so you cover related subjects together.

This topic came up a few months ago and I shall fly in the face of the learned opinions above and say that you should study in whatever way suits you!

Although I wasn't with BGS, the groundschool I used recommended a similar study timetable. I tried it, couldn't get on with it, found it counter-productive to my own understanding so I switched to doing a subject at a time and did the progress tests in one hit.

I found I was wasting too much in going back to revise something I'd read the previous week, something that was crucial to understanding whereas, if I blitzed the subject in one go, I was doing this less and less.

Perhaps it's my age and my ability to retain useless information!!

With one exception, my pass marks were all in the 90s.

Cheers

Hi,
I am currently training for my PPL but it's taking forever due to several circumstances beyond my control (weather is only one of them).
I then would like to enroll at Bristol Ground school for ATPL DL but they will not take me without PPL which means I will not be enrolling until mid-summer.

I am eager to start studying (I already passed all my PPL exams and I cannot wait too long as I will go back to my home country soon and then it will be difficult to come to Bristol where I now live) so I am here to propose the following:

I am ready to "pay a rent" for Bristol Ground School study material (only the book, not the on-line access) for Module 1 from any one who has already passed Module 1. When I enroll to Bristol Ground school I will give the material back (I will not write on it).

I see it as a win-win-win situation as I will be able to start studying right away, the person who will "rent" me the books will make some money (let's say 100£) and will get the books back and Bristol Ground School will get their money when I enroll.
We can found a way to guarantee that I will give the material back (for example I could give a deposit).

Anyone interested?
Or anyone has a better suggestion than this and than buying the whole OAT package of books?

Thanks
