I am sure this has been mentioned before but a reminder won't go amiss. As a thread has cropped up about phone calls, I thought I would just steer you to this site.

Many of you undoubtedly know it already but if not, try it. It saves you hours and pounds!

Simply enter the 0800 number or the company name and if possible, it will give you a landline to call at the normal rate.

I feel quite smug when they ask me to hold!

MJ,

As I have free calls at home 0845 costs and 0870 really costs.

Lots of mobile contracts have 'inclusive' minutes to 01 and 02 numbers, but not 08 numbers.:ok:

"Saynoto0870" has been a good resource for me, but unfortunately some businesses are getting wise to this and several of the companies have now disconnected/changed their landline numbers....

B&2, I can see their point with 0870 numbers as they factor that in their income stream but the 0845 is supposed to be a cheap national call at local rates. Where it falls down is the free call contracts.

Likewise, should you be unfortunate enough to have BT Broadband and need to contact the helpdesk, then avoid using the 0845 or whatever and go through 150 (free) and select the appropriate choices to get to the broadband support. Saves paying for the privilege of being kept waiting.
