Hello all i have been researching for quite some time now and still have many questions unanswered. I have started my ppl and have 6 hrs to date and taking my air law exam in the next couple of days. my plan was to achive my ppl by july with 45hrs total. I can just about afford it with work as a builder full time and fly in the evenings and weekends. I was going to gain ppl then do some hour building abroad then try and get a career development loan for cpl and atpl exams, then head off to africa where my father resides and get a job doing some bush flying. Now my plans may change as my mother is moving to Australia in the next year so i would not have enough time to complete half of what im setting out. So im starting to look at self funded integrated programs as you are more likely to end up with a job on frozen rather than modular. My mum is quite wealthy with property here and in Oz so if i got accepted on an integrated program would i have any trouble securing the funds needed from a bank loan? How hard is it exactly to get them to give you the money after you`ve been accepted onto an integrated program? Im 20 yrs old by the way living near to watford. If anyone could advise me i would be very gratefull!
Cheers
Danny

Firstly, 45 hrs for a PPL is not normally viable in this country. It can be done in countries with better weather but even then is the exception rather than the rule.

You're right about hour building abroad as that will save you a considerable amount of money but CDLs are limited at £8k and that will never be enough for the ATPLs and the CPL flying, at least not in the U.K..

Modular is much cheaper than integrated as far as JAR is concerned but you don't say if you have the right to work in Australia. A CASA fATPL will be cheaper than a JAA one but it depends on where you want to live. It does not necessarily follow that because you do modular you have less chance of getting a job, although doing the CPL and IR in the same place is likely to be to you're benefit.

hi there thanks very much for your help. I have dual citizenship for oz and uk. I cannot see myself living the uk for to much longer but am not sure on aviation prospects in oz. I will be in and around Brisbane/Gold coast area. Reccomend any schools?
