A mate e-mailed a letter from the Sunday Examiner

A380 Plan
With the introduction of the new Airbus A380, will such an aircraft be able to land with a full load in Tasmania?
If not, will our politicians lobby Canberra to upgrade Launceston and Hobart airports immediately?
Devonport should be retained as a back-up airport for Launceston when aircraft cannot land safely at Launceston.
What do other readers think?

JIM G CAMPBELL Ulverstone.

I think you might be dreamin' Jim.

Take a full A380 out of Tasmania - would the FA please turn out the State lights before departure?

I'd be surprised if that does not get a rise out of EWL!

EWL has put in a tender to be the ground agent at DPO!!

All his flannellette and moccascin mates will be booking them cheap seats to get out of Slobart, Inceston and Burnie so they can go to the big smoke to visit.

Capt Wally, you'll find it's easier to do a torso count than a head count-everytime:oh:

P.S Singapore Airlines visits Hobart every year in December to meet up with the mega-cruise ships. A few years ago it were B747's now it's B777's going direct Hobart-Singapore!

Is there enough fuel in Tassie to fill the 380 with causing a fuel shortage down there?

the council would probably want an development application filled out because of the sudden increase in population when a 380 showed up.:E

The things that big Australia post will want to give the 380 it's own postcode.

Gotta love them Taswegians. Back when money from the Dams Debacle was being thrown around somebody decided the runways at DPO and WY should be extended to take international flights. I think Japan to DPO was mentioned as a distinct possibility.

Who flys to DPO these days besides Qlink?:=

I suspect ol' Jim's idea is indeed up there with jousting sticks...

Come on EWL, we're all waiting for you to bite!! :}

Cor, drop a 380 into Tassie & it'll be weeks before they come out from the bush!

I think the direct Japan flights were for freighters taking seafood up there...I think. Or, were they planning on exporting travel agents.......:E:ouch::suspect:

What do they grow in the hills behind Ulverstone, must be good.

You will notice that EWL has been very quiet lately, must be planning the project and recruiting all the staff to handle the flights.

Howdy Tinpis, I heard that it will be crosshired by Airnorth to run out to Bathurst Island for the the Tiwi Footy Finals.

Perhaps KRudd will send it up to Darwin to carry the cousins down to Canberra so they will be there when he says $orry.

EWL is very quiet, still think he will be the agent at DPO.
