Has anyone heard of anyone who will help out with this?

It's not absolutely essential because the hire aircraft reportedly have GPS and I prefer to fly using a VFR chart anyway, but a back up would be good for safety.

Any help appreciated. :)

Why not just buy a small hand held one and take it with you? I always carry a personal one in my flight bag in case the expensive one in my helicopter breaks down.

I see you live in UK and Amazon UK presently offer 24 hour delivery of a Garmin eTrex H handheld which just needs 2 batteries, is waterproof and can store 500 way points. It's around $120.

just buy a full road map gps at hifi corporation in JHB or CT...they're selling a cheapie for R1400 (around $200) with all SA roads etc. The UK etrex wont have it.

www.garmin.com (http://www.garmin.com)

Take a look at the Nuvi series. Best one is the Nuvi 350. get the chip for the South African Database and you can use it in your car or your plane.
Just remember it knows no areas deemed "criminaly populated". So a shortcut may drive you through some places you may not want to be.......
Best way is to get yourself some South African who needs a vacation. If he says dont turn here, its probably for a reason.......
