Now that things are a little quieter on here may I ask which FTO trained Senior First Officer Coward??

What a curious question.

He must have, fortunately, attended a niche FTO somewhere which specialises in low power/glide approaches in wide-bodied airliners from 600ft/2nm! :ugh:

Bandit,
I innocently assumed that it might need a little skill to get a plane down with no power but did enjoy your answer.
I do accept that it is wrong to single out one member of the crew but I do think that their trainers did a fabulous job. My question is answered- it was British Aerospace Prestwich for both and am happy to be moderated off to rumours and news or another forum. Clearly British Airways are responsible for their continuing skills and I say well done to their training staff too.

Indeed. Whatever the cause - the (both cabin and flight) crew's immediate handling of the situation avoided a terrible tragedy.

When FTE was BAE Jerez and then when that was British Aerospace Prestwick then THEN my god - what a school!

A pale imitiation.
