Pundit code;

The latest RAFA Air Mail has a letter asking the question, Why were the two letter morse codes airfield identification beacons codes called Pundit codes, anyone out there know why they were called Pundit?

"Pundit" is a corruption of the Hindi "Pandit" - meaning an authority. Perhaps it originated in India between the 2 World Wars to help identify landing strips in a very large Country.
