Interesting article in the Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml;jsessionid=XZLBC5FF11ZIVQFIQMGCFGGAVCBQUIV0?xml=/opinion/2007/12/24/do2402.xml)today, penned by Brigadier Allan Mallinson, about Brown's attitude to the Armed Forces & the Defence budget.

Sums up very neatly the current state of play.

Also, I loved the bit in the Telegraph (can't find it on line, sorry) where a young soldier in Helmand said that they had considered offering 'to play the Taliban at football on Christmas day but decided that the Taliban would miss the joke'.

Fanastic dry humour that had me crying tears of laughter. Made me realise why the enemy will never beat us - they haven't a hope! Well said that man.

Thinking of all of our people 'out there' with so little, when the rest of us are wallowing in excess back home!

I know a bloke who's been in 15+ years, sat in a block right now at Brize, on duty, sans heating or hot water because it's 'too expensive to call someone out'.

I expect the bill will ultimately be for his replacement.
