Moving over grass but with infill mesh, the sort where the grass grows between the grid

I have a Robinson Helimover and its nothing short of fantastic. Works great on Tarmac, slabs, grass and I even have a slight slope....well the entrance to my hanger has:}.

There are a few around but i have have only used the Robi one and I couldn't recommend it enough.

This (http://www.helimover.com/) is the other one people use. It's simpler than the robinson, because the lift device is you (ie manual !) I've used both and there's not much to choose, so I'd go on price and simplicity.

Be careful though there's a huge arm on the tail, and miniscule wiggles at the front equate to feet at the tail. We've had some nasty hangar rash from ours.

I have just bought a second hand Jara helimover to move my R44 and it does the job well, although I sometimes have to juggle to get it to push the machine over a small 1 cm ridge in my concrete helipad. I have found that it takes a bit of practice, but the secret is to move it as slowly as possible and keep looking at where the fin and tail roter are, and of course the main blades.

Hi there Cyclic Flare, you may have a problem moving your R44 over grass especially if you are using the standard factory supplied ground handling wheels as the vast majority of the weight falls on those wheels. Unless the ground is really smooth and rock hard the wheels will just sink in, no matter what electric tow truck you are using. I believe thqat there is a Canadian company who make oversize balloon tyre wheels for use on soft ground. I saw them at Helitech but can't recall the name.

I have a HeliMover and it is a great piece of machinery which makes life so easy. One of it's really useful features is that, unlike the RHC factory item, is that whole thing will swivel between the skids making manoeuvring a breeze. It's also the most reliable and with the current £/$US exchange rate the best price too.
