I have a few questions about the Shark that I am sure some of you will have answers to. The questions are about the Continental piston engined 280C:

What is the normal idle speed rpm?

When engaging the drive to the rotors, is this usually done at idle speed?

The belt drive from the engine to the drive drum - is this a 1:1 drive ratio?

Many thanks in advance if you can answer these.

I have a rebuilt static display Enstrom and I intend to drive the rotors
(slowly!) with an electric motor.

However, if I fit a long enough cable..............................

Hi,
Engine is a Lycoming 360, not Conti.
Idle 1450-1500 RPM
Clutch engaged at idle, keeping above 1200RPM
Primary ratio 1:1.226 (lower to upper)
Just curious, which 280C have you got?

Hello and many thanks for that.

I have G-BXEE which was flipped over about 18 months ago.

Cheers,

Ian.

Ah yes, Levo's. A sad and sorry tale. Any pictures of it now?

Hi,

Yes, plenty, send me a PM with an e-mail address and I will send you some.

She is now looking almost as she was before the accident.

Cheers,

Ian.
