I am trying to get a charity drive together to try and bring some cheer for the patients in Headley Court.

After having seen the appalling treatment that two of the chaps suffered at the hands of an imbecile, many people wanted to show their support for those who have been injured in the line of duty.

I have recently spent a bit of time in hospital myself and it was a miserable experience, even though I knew I was getting out just a few days later and with friends and family visiting on a daily basis.

So how it can be for the people in there who are often many miles from home, with life changing injuries I cannot really comprehend.

So a decision was made to try and help these guy's. I've got plenty of time on my hands due to being off work with a medical "complaint".

But, anything we do needs to be appropriate and needed, so I'll have ring the OC at Headley tomorrow afternoon, but does anyone have any contacts at SSAFA who could help?

We've already got a fair amount of donations pledged, plus the use of some supercars to deliver the stuff, but we want to do this via a recognised charity like SSAFA to make sure it is all above board.

We're not going to change the world, but we do want to show that folks at Headley are appreciated by the wider community, especially at Christmas which must be the hardest time for those in hospital.

Cheers in advance.

I'm not rich, but I'm in.

What can I do?

At the moment it's just getting some contacts at the Hospital and at the SSAFA to get the ball rolling. We only thought of it on Saturday night, but there seems to be a few grand sorted already!

As it starts to get going any and all help will be most welcome and I'll let you know.

Thanks.

SAS, having read about your personal battle on your thread in JB, I take my hat off to you sir. The plan you describe says a lot about you, and I'm sure there will be hands available to help when required.

I'm currently deployed but if there is anything I can do to help, please PM.

Cheers
