I am looking about for useful/interesting audio and video podcasts for those long (wide-body) flights. Wife is learning to fly as well, so training vids would be a particular bonus.

YouTube doesn't allow downloads :{ !

Any thoughts on a good source(s)?

Thanks, Sam.

Download Real PLayer version 11 (www.real.com) - this version will allow you to download the videos from YouTube (although it won't warn you about copyright - that's your own responsibility!)

I'm not familiar with the video formats supported by the iPOD - so you may have to also download an FLV converter (www.koyotesoft.com has one) to convert flash video to avi.

A quick Google for conversion software normally shows a number of freeware packages. Just make sure you have decent anti-spyware installed (just in case!)

cheers

I've seen podcasts in magazines such as IFR Refresher. I would start foraging all the mags. Check out Flight Training. Good mag for students anyway.

Just starting to explore the podcast idea myself for my 40 minute commute every morning. Contact me if you find some good stuff.

The podcasts Aviation Podcast - The Finer Points (http://thefinerpoints.net/index.php) are good - any other ones recommended?

YouTube doesn't allow downloads

FireFox has an add on called 'download helper' which will download videos from anywhere.

One I've just found that may be useful is UND Aerocast (http://www.undaerocast.com/). It's on small planes, strictly educational i.e. a lot of episodes about approach and landing procedures.

Has anyone tried the Uncontrolled Airspace (http://www.uncontrolledairspace.com/) podcast? Looks like they produce a 2-hour podcast every week, which is a heck of a lot of time to spend on one podcast.

I listened to it briefly yesterday - fine if you like the Zoo Radio format - not my cup of tea. I thought it was junk
