I'm travelling SYD-LHR on VS 201 on January 18.
This service is apparently flown using Airbus A340's,does anyone have
any experience of this route and are there any seats to be avoided.
Unfortunately I am flying economy but I can request a seat via their
website now so thought I'd get some advice as early as possible.

Before using Guru or one of the other seat map sites, you need to find out which a/c is operating this route. It might be the A343 or the 346 and that makes a difference. The VS website used to list the EQU but (when I last looked) no longer do as it gives them operational flexibility but the seat allocation map in the booking engine should state clearly which one it is. Otherwise, compare cabin sizes with one of the seat map sites.

Lastly, consider the length of the two sectors and whether you are a sleep-all-I-can, or up-and-about kind of pax.

99% sure it would be a A340-600 - Row 51 in economy is an exit row - row 52 does not have a window though.

I flew VS200/1 LHR-HKG-SYD-HKG-LHR last year on the A340. 42HK outbound and inbound in Economy. Lovely seats, no one sat on the opposite aisles getting up every 2 mins etc in the centre as this is where the bulkhead/storage area is. I would go for those every time!

All VS seat maps are on:

www.v-flyer.com/seats.asp (http://www.v-flyer.com/seats.asp)

together with passenger ratings on many individual seats and tons of other useful VS info down to which specific aircraft flew where on which date.

As far as I'm aware VS200/201 is always an A346

Cheers
