1400Z: 3 large jet a/c heading E along the coast from Plymouth flying in 2 up 1 back formation. alt approx 1500' with relitavely low air speed. they looked similar in size to executive jets with the two engines at the rear but seemed to be military, the last one had a registration on the underside of its left wing but couldn't make it out. any ideas?

Dominies or FR Aviation Falcons?
Or maybe 3 VC-10s, not small, but far away.... just like the cows in Father Ted (as if we'd have 3 servicable...).

Royal Navy Thursday War stuff mate. Falcons fly along and the Hawks "drop" off them pretending to be missiles so that the fish-heads can practice air defence.

Followed by the Falcons simulating a shore launched missile attack at the fleet. Great fun flying! (If you don't get out much like me)
