References...what kind of questions?

Hi guys,

we would like to introduce a x-check of our candidates applications by calling 2 persons they would give as "references".

I know that a lot of companies use that procedure. Could help by telling us what kind of questions do your companies ask to those "references" to verify some CV elements in a "diplomatic" way?
