The purpose of a takeoff alt is so that you have an airfield with weather above minumums into which you could land shortly after takeoff.

Bear in mind, it is often the case where we depart an airfield in conditions that are above minimum for takeoff, but not for an approach, therefore you require a takeoff alternate should you require to land shortly after departure.
