With tourdates for the new Iron Maiden world extravaganza already being announced, any news on possible Bruce Air repeats in 2008? ;)

Thanks for answer, John! I hope you still remember me from Keflavik trip in 2005. It was cool to hang out in a 757 cockpit! :ok:

I only worry about the fact that Maiden's European tour will happen in July-August - very busy period for charter airlines... So I don't know if it'll be possible to hire a plane for a day or two and not paying outrageous fees. Though I hope there will be a trip or two! :) Maybe Astreaus 757 in Maiden colours will be still flying then and it would be used for this trips? That would be cool! BTW do you know which aircraft (registration) will be used for the Feb-Mar Maiden tour?

BTW Bruce has been promoted to the 757 Captain so big congrats to him!! :ok:

We will have one aircraft dedicated to Ad Hoc charter work next summer so that would be the ideal aircraft for any flights to IM gigs.

The aircraft being used for the tour is G-OJIB. It is being painted up this month and will be operated on our regular flights during December and January, before departing on the tour at the end of January.

POLISH_EDDIE
14th Nov 2007, 11:51
Thanks for answer! And will you repaint G-OJIB in standard Astraeus colours once the tour will be completed in March, or is it going to fly in Maiden c/s a little bit longer? I hope to take a few pics of this aircraft somewhere in the world!

That's great that there is possibility of more "Bruce Air" flights... I hope they will come up with some cool destinations like Iceland (why not again?), Croatia (cheap and beautiful), Athens or Prague and that the trips will be priced reasonably - like the one to Belgrade this year (too bad I had to miss it!).

Iron Maiden have been confirmed to play at 40.000-seater Poljud Stadium in Split, Croatia on Sunday, 10th August. I think it sounds like a wonderful "Bruce Air" destination - really nice city and quite cheap. Also the tickets are supposed to be the cheapest on the whole tour. So probably it would be possible to do a flight there from LGW for about 350-400 quid in total. I hope you will consider doing Bruce Air trip to Split!

GhostofCain
7th Dec 2007, 15:58
It could be a nice destination, but let's wait until they announce the whole European tour. Any possible dates for that to happen aztruck? ;)

Bruce air trips are planned to Lisbon, Trondheim, wacken, Bucharest, and warsaw/prague(2 day trip, and its someones 50th birthday so a party will be thrown in for sure!!)
Trondheim and Bucharest will be out and back at the moment(no hotel).
The costs will all be £350 to £400 region, all inclusive except taxes.
Wacken is more problematic, its miles away from anywhere and the locals cant abide their beauty sleep being ruffled by airliners after 11pm or before 7am. Hotels are 60 miles away.Still working on the logstics there!
Metal Hammer will be advertising and marketing the trips but fan club members will get the first shot at bookings via the maiden website.
Lisbon is planned as an overnight stay after the gig, leave lunchtime next day

Many thanks aztruck. It seems that you're planning to fly to some nice destinations. That birthday party in August sounds really tempting too. ;)

Thanks a lot for answer, Aztruck! :ok:

So is it confirmed that you will be playing in Warsaw, Poland? Or is it either gig in Warsaw or Prague? In case you will be playing in my hometown, I will be able to arange you, as I promised, flight onboard Antonov An-2 at Warsaw Aeroclub. :)

Those trips sounds really good! I think I will go either for Bucharest or Trondheim. Warsaw/Prague trip wouldn't make sense at all as it's too close for me (especially Warsaw - the venue is 20 mins away by bus! ). This time at least 2-3 other people from Poland are interested in doing those trips so the demand worldwide should be pretty huge!

Also will you repaint G-OJIB in standard Astraeus colours once the 1st leg of the tour will be over or is it going to be used for Bruce Air trips as well? That would be cool if the plane will have Maiden c/s a little bit longer! :ok:

Any idea when the trips will go on sale for the Fan Club members? I think I need to start saving now! :)

One more question... I wonder if you plan all the flights out of LGW or maybe also from Germany (CGN?) or Scandinavia (ARN again?)? BA now switched from LHR to LGW on all flights to WAW (very strange decision but they also open LCY-WAW in May) so it would suit me well!

I hope Trondheim trip is out from LGW as I've got a feeling I will be doing this - just realised it's on my birthday! :)

Planning on money off if you already have a ticket, We thought of that! Just waiting on a quote for last 3 shows and nailing down taxes etc so that we can give a proper price. I would like to have these up by the weekend.
Got a bit of packing to do tomorrow. A wee bit of back line in a certain 757 to see if it all fits. Fingers crossed. Flight test next week. The artwork looks stunning.:)

sounds great then I might actually do Wacken if you figure the logistics out :)
allready going from Tampere to Trondheim and then to Oslo might be a bit of taking the long way if going to london first....But Wacken is defo a great option :)

Dear Aztruck,
I've just started operating with a company, out in Dubai, and one of the chaps, in the Operations Department, is Maiden Mad! He has photographs, of himself, in the front row, at several gigs! I was wondering if something special could be organized, for him, or if you could send some sort of Maiden Goodie Bag! I will get him to join the Maiden Fan Club. However, my new address, in Dubai, is:
Street 73c,
Villa 35,
Mirdif,
Dubai,
U.A.E.
If you can send something, I will sort you out at the next Gatbash. If not, it's no problem. Just said that I would ask!

Regards,

Jamie A.K.A. Bond.

P.S. No hotel required if you do a gig in Dubai!!!

That is very cool that there are more Bruce Air trips. Prague sounds really good, never been there and a birthday to celebrate too ;).

Tickets to London from LAX in August are over $1100 :ugh:. If I were in the right location that would be about enough for a 2nd Bruce Air trip. I have to do some more research because I want to make this possible.

POLISH_EDDIE

Great news about the ticket money coming of the price if you already have one, as i have bought a ticket for Trondheim , but wasnt planning on going as it was to much hassle to get there from Tampere.

i may do this trip now...

but defo the Prague/Warsaw one as well!!

i'll take Angela on one of them...just not sure which

Lisbon is looking good, but i suspect many in the UK will tie that in with a few days down at Eddies Bar after the gig...So are there any plans to allow people to fly one way with a BA flight??

(not that i intend doing Lisbon this time, id love to go to Eddies bar, but with us getting married in Costa Rica in May...we wont need a holiday in Portugal, not when Maiden are touring!!)

GhostofCain
13th Dec 2007, 09:38
Yeah, aztruck, as The Beast says: is there any chance to do a one-way Bruce Air flight? I might go to the Trondheim gig, but my missus wants us to spend a week in Scandinavia (hoping to cath Maiden in Trondheim, Oslo and Gothenburg during our holidays).
Many thanks in advance for everything!

...just read in Metal Hammer that 4 Bruce Airs are happening

BOLOGNE
LISBON
WACKEN

and PROBABLY Trondheim...

So no prague then?? ...also it mentions MAYBE Budapest...does that mean you will be playing there to??

POLISH_EDDIE
20th Dec 2007, 18:22
Maybe Budapest date will be after Split? On 12th August perhaps? I hope Warsaw/Prague and Bucharest trips are still being planned! IMHO they would be much better than some festivals like Gods of Metal or Wacken. :) I'm keeping fingers crossed for Trondheim one as it's on my b-day!!!

maybe metal hammer got budapest wrong?? Could have been an easy mistake for Bucharest...

With another Maiden tour in the works for Summer 2010 I wonder - is there any chance for some 'Bruce Air' trips? Especially Bergen in Norway seems like a great place for such event. Well, Astraeus don't operate as many 757s as they did in the past but maybe there will still be a gap in schedule to organize a trip or two... Would be awesome! :ok:

swampymark
9th Jan 2010, 16:05
I've booked already the flight from Stockholm to Bergen and I already got my ticket. So for me it'd be great if there will be some Bruce Airs in 2011 for the album tour.
It would be the first Bruce Air for me.
I hope there will be one. Would be amazing flying to an IM concert with Bruce as captain :)
I have to start saving

Don't need Ed-Force 1 both ways - the return leg on Lisbon trip in July '08 was with a charter outfit: Blue Air. BD had more time to b/s with us yobs 'down the back', but I'm not sure if someone didn't end up being 'out of pocket' as a result. Still, great gig, even if the e-coli from the dodgy 'Superbock-super rock' hamburger vendor took the edge off an otherwise fantastic trip. (E-coli = great weight-loss programme BTW :yuk:)

aztruck, now that Bruce Air to Villa Manin is officially sold out, are there any chances to have another Bruce Air in August for all of us who could not book a place in the first one?

Thanks in advance for all your help.
