I am sending myself spam!

Sorry if this has been brought up before, but today I decided to take a brief look at all the rubbish in my spam folder, and there I was: advertising for the bigger and better! :ugh: How's that possible? How can I prevent this?
(I predominantly use Yahoo! for my email.)

You're probably not, don't worry! It's extremely easy to spoof the "sender" address on an email (ie to set the sender address to be different than the actual sender) so spammers routinely fill the sender field with garbage - either another address from their email database, or the recipient's own address, etc.

Trouble then is, if you are using some spam filter like Mailwasher, you end up blacklisting yourself.

If you are sending yourself messages, as least send yourself NICE messages! ;)
