Setting up email

Folks, I recently had to buy a new computer, and am having trouble setting up the emails.

I use BT, and spoke to them re configuring for mail through Outlook Express, but I can neither send nor receive. I have checked that the address is correct, that it is all lower-case, but still no luck. When I access mail from a remote computer, no problems, so BT have not reset passwords etc.

Anyone have any ideas, please?

Can you access your incoming e mails on your computer via, say, mail2web, using IE or Firefox ?
If you can, it may be something really simple, such as having configured the outgoing server as stmp instead of smtp etc

Yes, I am able to access my mail by any method except Outlook Express, such as the ways you suggest!
