View Full Version : QATAR AIR FORCE Sea King NEW JOBS

I have been updated by a Uk company (Terrcon) that the Qatar Air Force's long awaitied announcement is out and they are now ready to hire some Pilots, Engineers and Rear crew to fill Sea King slots

The "work in the Gulf" thread has some views on Qatar but they are lost in the ADA noise, but haven't seen a good word yet.

I'm actually in UAE this week and thought I may pop up for a visit

Any thoughts on Qatar Air Force?

I think you mean Terracon.....

Unless they have mispelt it intentionally on the job app form it says

"Terrcon (UK) Limited New World Security consultants and Anti-Terrorist specialists"

but that is as close to advertising as I would like to go

All I will say is make your own decision but be careful and research any potential contract and life in Qatar very carefully.

I spent a year working for the Qatar Emiri Air Force and left under my own terms after a simple refusal to honour my contract with regards to pay, terms etc and the fact it took them over 6 months to pay me at all and give me accommodation. The people there are an interesting mix - some great and progressive, some will blatantly lie to you and do something else and some will just try to stitch you up.

If you can handle that, all of the instant experts in the QEAF who insist they are excellent at things they have never done, plus institutional racism, mental attitude towards driving, limited activities in and around Doha and the fact you need a visa to leave the country then go for it. It didn't suit me or another guy I went with and they messed a third guy around over his medical so he left quite early. Out of 4 employed only one is left - he obviously has the patience of a saint or he might be in the Ramada bar all the time!

Enjoy.:}

I have tried a little research to find TERRCON (UK) Ltd and various other speelinks but haven't found anything on the world wide webternet! Maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.

The contract has not yet been signed and sealed. As ever the locals are delaying - concerns over the bakground of the company bidding for the conratct:ugh:!
The job needs CURRENT SeaKing crews. There is no facility to refresh on type.
It does not seem to be particularly well thoght out and the company adversiting has NO aviation background at all!!!!

Now you've made poor little Qatar feel bad. It's not such a bad place. The weather rocks if you like hot (I do). the LuLu store is hands down the best grocery store I've ever been to anywhere. Lunch or Coffee on the Corniche is a pleasure.

I'd go back if Gulf Helis ever changed their management style.

Just came across this thread recently and was planning on heading to Mid East shortly. Anyone heard any updates on the Qatar AIr Force SF situation? Would be eternally grateful for any facts, fiction, or made up story that sounds good. SARAC

I haven't heard anything beyond rumour control, the "start in October" initial request in July is still the party line, it does make one wonder what happened in the interim, have they fixed everything another way? Is is with someone else from the US or France?

I would have thought the Pruners in Qatar would have mentioned something if this was the case but it's all quiet in that corner.

In the same way we don't define by which Christams we'll all be home by I guess they didn't say which October!

I have tried a little research to find TERRCON (UK) Ltd I'm not surprised; it's listed as a dissolved company (6 June 2008) at Companies House. There are no other variants of the name "Terrcon" listed at Co Ho.

Bit naughty if the directors are trading under the wrong company name. :}

I think FBH had an advert in Flight global looking for guys with Sea King/S-61 experience for Qatar just last week.

Qatar Seakings used for a variety of roles, but mainly SAR and trooping (parachuting, roping, abseilling etc). 11 aircraft but short of crews.

Does anybody know if the new advert is just for SAR duties or will you be expected to carry out the "SAR and trooping (parachuting, roping, abseilling etc)" roles i.e. just like the old days in the Mil??

SiClick
21st Jun 2012, 11:28
I believe the advert is for Instructors, they will be required to teach all of the Military flying skills to new pilots, and to teach advanced stuff to the existing pilots. Its a 50/50 mix of SAR and SH.

Not sure I would touch FBH with a disinfected barge pole at the moment. Their HR record leaves a lot to be desired. I have a mate who's going through his tribunal this week following the redundancies from last year. Also that crews are resigning in droves at Valley.

i also believe that another company in the ME is also advertising for Sea King crews so I doubt that FBH have the contract yet, just trying to bolster their bid so they can say they have crews ready to go. After all, they didnt get the AW139 contract in Qatar!

Why would they be recruiting when the Qataris are looking at buying a replacement for the Sea King? FBH trying to raise the company profile? Lots of not so happy workers Aircrew and Groundcrew in FBH at the moment. It's been about a year since the last round of redundancies, must be time for some more?

Qatar requests Seahawk helicopter purchase (http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/qatar-requests-seahawk-helicopter-purchase-373730/)

Qatar requests UH-60M helicopters - News - Shephard (http://www.shephardmedia.com/news/rotorhub/qatar-requests-uh-60m-helicopters/)

They'll be needing air and ground crews with H-60 experience soon enough :)

I understand the AW139 positions in Qatar were through a recruiting company, National Academy for Professional Training (NAPT). From what I'm hearing, not a lot of happy pilots over there. A mate of mine joined last year and has nothing positive to say about either NAPT or the QEAF operation.

I know a number of pilots on this contract, since the majority starting last Oct/Nov they have done very little flying averaging just 2 to 3 hours in six months. Turn up for work at 6am, morning brief, then play sport or swim until knock off and drive home. The main problem is lack of engineers to service the aircraft. Good money, but little progress since the inset.
