Bristow will probably be importing two EC225s into Australia in nearly 2008 with both aircraft contracted to support operations in the Browse Basin.
Training the trainers is due to commence in Aberdeen within the next few days.
Oil company sources suggested that they needed a longer range aircraft than the existing Super Pumas.
"Sector distances are over 250nm and suitable alternates can be difficult during the wet season. We wanted an S92 because they (CHC's) are air conditioned, have greater aux fuel capability and a more comfortable cabin for the passengers. CHC or Bristow didn't have any available but we are happy that the 225 will do a good job based on Bristow's favourable experiences on the North Sea" said a source close to the oil company.
