View Full Version : BBC News??
Parapunter 6th Oct 2007, 19:49 Anyone noticed that we used to have the news on radio four, we now have 'The BBC news on radio four'
I should stick this on you know you're getting old thread...but I honestly dislike this branding rubbish, after all, the news is the news so why do I need to know it's the BBC news? After all, is it different news than if it were from ITN? ooh, hang on a minute...
Joking apart, I can just see the dozen meetings where this was floated as a good idea, for gods sake:ugh::mad::{:ugh:
west lakes 6th Oct 2007, 19:57 No doubt someones read this: -

so wish to warn everyone what they are about to receive:rolleyes:
frostbite 6th Oct 2007, 20:12 It was amusing to hear the presenters stumbling over it when it first came in.
Load of nonsense.
Rainboe 6th Oct 2007, 22:03 It's actually a better subtitle for the BBC News! Sadly, what it says (and is) is: 'here is the news as seen by the BBC presented with the BBC's traditional slant!'. Anything and everything is looked at from: a Socialist perspective with an anti-Christian/anti-Conservative/anti-white/pro-gay bias viewed through very 'Green' glasses (as in: 'it's all your fault, the overcrowding, the pollution, climate change, the glaciers melting- it is not a natural process, it's your fault, so don't you dare argue!').
I can't believe I am forced to pay so much tax to that spoiled institution. They should have had their licence to transmit current affairs removed long ago!
Parapunter 6th Oct 2007, 22:15 Yes Mr. Boe, but one understands that by signing a mortgage application, one is signing up for 25 years of penury & heartache, just as one understands that by tuning in to radio four, one is not listening to Fox news fm...:(
One is more fed up with the marketing than the political commisars.
Flabbergasted 6th Oct 2007, 22:18 But one is not legally obliged to pay for another station just by having the equipment to watch a different one.
;)
The beeb recieved a bollocking only the other day for their interpretation or, presenting in order to manipulate interpretation of one of their documentaries.
WorkingHard 7th Oct 2007, 07:49 Does any one else find it irritating that the words "the BBC can now reveal; or the BBC has learnt that............." when in fact they are usually reading some sort of press hand out or statement from the person they are talking about?
Richard Taylor 7th Oct 2007, 09:43 "The BBC can reveal Natasha Kerplunsky is leaving the BBC..."
"The BBC can reveal that we have faked another competition..."
How about: "The BBC can reveal that the BBC is a  waste of the public's money..." :ugh:
Lamenting Navigator 7th Oct 2007, 13:43 It's BBC News empire building. The different BBC departments outsource to one another (creating work for itself??). Maybe the Word Service should get the contract next, so at least we get to find out what's actually going on instead of all this Westminster political back-scratching rubbish.
It's a step too far.
frostbite 7th Oct 2007, 14:35 It's a long time since I watched the BBC TV news all the way through - usually just see the starting headlines and slope off elsewhere until it's time for their 'tour round the UK' annoying weather forecast.
I'll watch the Beeb news if Susanna Reed is on but otherswise it's cartoons for me !!! (I know ....to each his own with regards to taste)
frostbite 7th Oct 2007, 21:38 Look, this is a sensible thread about the BBC, not which totty you fancy!
I like Sophie Raworth.
Granite Monolith 8th Oct 2007, 14:02 The Governments Minister for business, John Hutton - the person responsible for the Royal Mail has just been interviewed on BBC News 24. In the four minutes he was interviewed he was not asked anything about the strike whatsoever. The only thing he was asked about was Gordon Brown and the election.
What is wrong with the BBC, they have a duty as a Public Service broadcaster to ask the Government the questions the public want answering.
An absolute disgrace!
teeteringhead 8th Oct 2007, 15:04 And still they tell lies.....
Happened upon "The Live Strictly Come Dancing Results Show" last night - well Milady Teeters was watching it honest - with inter alia John Barnes and Kenny Logan.
Funny then that they were both commentating sport 9which I guess was live!) on other channels - Barnes the footy in Florence and Logan the RWC....
.......why the  say it's live when it so obviously ain't!!!!
Granite Monolith 8th Oct 2007, 15:41 ...not to mention the female panelist was wearing the same clothes as the night before..thought that odd! :p
