U.K Weather Reports

As i am PPlH pliot which is the best place on the web to find out about weather conditions ?
I currently use microlight.info for cloud base ,qhn and vis and bbc for the forecast ,is there any better sites for us ppl's to look at before we fly .

The MetOffice and Avbrief are also the two sites that I consult most often.

I use Notam Check Software. It downloads notams, plots them on a map and also downloads and decodes TAFs and Metars. I also give the freephone red arrows number a ring too. I have no links other than as a satisfied user. (Actually I'm not flying anywhere at the moment - recently bust my back. ouch)

Just replace the ICAO codes with which ever code you want. Being text files they work on the simplest PDA or mobile phone as well.

Just picking up the pieces after 18 months off flying,about to start my commercial flight course and was wondering if anyone could advise the best/easiest way of gathering weather info for flight planning.I currently use the met office site but would appreciate feedback if anybody knows of other/better sites

Click on "MPEG-Film" under the main image and the satellite sequence which follows will give you a good idea of whats going on, in addition to any information you may have got from the sites already mentioned. Of those, AVBRIEF is one of the best and also has Radar images as well as route briefings and info on Notams.

Most accurate is looking out the window or asking someone at your destination. It might be me but in the last 20 years I am sure the forecast accuracy has got worse. Last week flying from Dunkeswell to pvt site in Glos.
Metars and Tafs gave 35 kts gusting 48 at Bristol, much the same at Filton usefully Glos was not giving any info. 40 mins after getting the info on finals to my site, Filton ( 9 miles away ) gave the surface wind as 7 kts ???????:eek:

Take a look at http://www.ukga.com, you will need to register (free) and once there it will give you a graphical display of the U.K. weather according to pre-determined colour codes. You can also set your home page to have favourite wx stations and use an RSS feeder.
