So why Romania?

I like that country and I am planning to go there in a few months' time, so why not do the flight training there as well. I mean, why not? Would you have asked the same question if I would have asked about flight training in a country as Germany or Spain?

Anyhow, I liked Cape Town where I got my PPL-H so why not try another "exotic" location for my PPL-A. It's a great benefit that Romania is a JAR land and you can go there with your car (without crossing sahara). ;)

Not sure if you still need the information. Tho, as far as I know there are 3 schools in Romania where you can get your PPL and IR.

Regional Air
http://www.regional-air.ro
They are located at Tuzla Airport (LRTZ) in Constanta. They have Diamond Katana DA20 (Rotax 80hp version) and Cessna 172 for IR. They soon to become certified for CPL.
Costs for PPL training are a 5500 Euros including learning materials.

Scoala Superioara de Aviatie Civila (SSAvC)
www.aviationacademy.ro (http://www.aviationacademy.ro)
you can do any type of license from PPL IR CPL ATPL for A and H.
They train on Strejnic and Clinceni Airfields near Bucharest, having their hq at Baneasa Intl Airport.
They fly Cessna 172 and a Seneca. Costs for PPL are a little bit more expensive than Regional Air, about 6500 euros.

HERO Aviation
www.hero-aviation.com (http://www.hero-aviation.com)
I am not sure about their location nor prices. They are offical dealers of Piper so I believe they train on Pipers :) As far as I saw they only started this year now building their first class. I will call them and get more information if you'd like.

For helicopters you also have Aviatia Utilitara that is traning near Baneasa for ATPL.

As far as I heard there are also a couple more PPL schools in the western Romania (Transylvania). If you let me know in what part of the country you would like to train I can get you more exact information.

Hope that helps.

That's a 5 years old thread and information are outdated.
Are you living on another planet where you still receive the 1970's American TV shows broadcast signal and 2007 PPrune threads? :)
