As it seems that Terminal 4 will be mainly used by the Sky Team Alliance a question that comes up is whether all self handlers and third party handlers will stay in the market. At the moment Air France (via its 100% owned AFSL), KLM via KLM Ground Services and Alitalia via Alitalia Airport/Servizi offer third party handling.

I personally think that Air France and KLM will merge their ground handling in Heathrow. In regards to Alitalia it remains to be seen whether Alitalia will survive, whether it will keep some Heathrow slots, whether it will sell Alitalia Airport (at the moment it seems that the new management wants to bring it back in from Alitalia Servizi) and whether Alitalia will stay in the Sky Team.

However, will there be a third party handling market (excluding Sky Team carriers?). At the moment all 3 ground handlers have got a big third party handling share.

What do you think?

I don't see all Sky Team airlines giving their ground handling away though.
