We have been experiencing a problem with our Kingair 200. During pressurised flight the emergency hatch handle moves towards the open position by about one inch, and during the decent and subsequent depressurisation the handle pops to the fully open position.

The mechanism itself is very solid, having a strong spring and needing positive pressure to open and close on the ground. Our local engineers looked at the problem and did not know what was causing the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks

I have seen this before on rare occasions, and the difficulty was with the pins/striker plate assembly on the door and frame...excessive wear due to misalignment.
Dunno if this is the problem however with the airplane in question, but worth a look.

Seen the same problem that 411A describes on several Kingair models. When it was pointed out to the factory the response was...."hump, never heard of that before".

We had this problem on our B200 when we picked it up as well. There is an over-center linkage in there which we tightened up, have not had a problem since. The handle is not easy to pull but can still be pulled by any adult.

I will ask our maintenance guys tomorrow for exact details.
