Today (7th September 2007) saw the last of the 3 BSP S-61s depart Anduki airfield (WBAK) for the last time, following the other 2 leaving yesterday, after 40 years of continuous accident free operations. The end of an era in anyone's book! :ok:

Some shots of the day(s):

What happens there with V8-SAV, these flew in former days for KLM helicopters and have also history at North Scottish Helicopters,

Demolition man, I believe you are right about the background of V8-SAV, but don't understand the question What happens there with V8-SAV

It left, along with the other two. They all flew up to Muara Port to be loaded onto a ship.

Thanks for the pics 212man. Wish I'd known, I'd have come over to see them off.

Still, if they've gone to Carson they'll end up with a new lease of life. Suppose they bought all the spare gearboxes too...

If 8V-SAV was ex North Scottish then It's prior history to them could be Okanagan as some or all of the S61's I flew were leased from them. The UK reg' were G-BFZC, G-BIMV, G-BHAH.

Check,G-BHPA was leased from KLM Helicopters in the early eighties at Sumburgh,after an accident where the rotor damaged the cockpit it was put on a barge from offshore to Peterhead for repair and that was the end of the lease period,I believe they had two other S61 Leased from Okanagan in that time
