Hurricane season

Just booked to Mexico (Cozumel) for the first two weeks of Sept - then remember that it's hurricane season. Not only that but the NHC are predicting a more active than usual year, and the statistical peak of hurricane activity is Sept 10 - bang in the middle of our hols !
Now. I love flying and once upon a time was a wannabe (failed medical), but as the years advance I'm finding myself starting to get a little nervous about it - especially trans-oceanic longhaul.
What's the score re flying and hurricanes ? - is it down to the flight deck crew entirely, or is there any pressure from the company to minimise the size of the diversion ? ...just looking for a little reassurance ! :)

Hurricane "Dean" is presently affecting the Caribbean and forecast track could affect Cozumel in next few days, so may be worth checking it's progress and effects.

In the event of a hurricane forecast at the destination I'd expect the airline to delay the flight at origin until the danger has passed rather than putting passengers and crew at risk.

Of course Dean will be long gone before your trip. you will
have plenty of opportunity to find out what, if any, damaged
was caused.

I followed the makings of Dean across the Atlantic on this site:

It was a Tropical Wave with storms practically when it entered
the ocean. A lot more active than the average Tropical Wave.
