Anybody here got access to the current issue of Aviation et Pilote magazine? The synopsis (http://www.aviation-pilote.com/couverture.CFM) on their web site implies that Diamond are having big problems with Thielert, and I wonder if the article backs this up.

Yes, this is nothing new. It was reported in the German Sunday's some months ago. From an abstract perspective, with such a complex engine there was bound to be legacy issues that built up over time to hamper the first OEM relationship.

Likelyhood is Cessna will get a tried and tested product under their agreed SLA and will have a fruitfull relationship.

The 2.0 engine has got rave reviews from mechanics compared to the early 1.7.

We should have a Cirrus announcment within 6 months.

The French magazine article seems to be specifically about the DA42, and I wouldn't have thought any early 1.7 engines went into those.

About 80% of DA42's are operating with the 1.7

I'm a big fan - it just took them time to get the product right.
