From our friends on ARRSE:

http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/viewtopic/t=74594/postdays=0/postorder=asc/start=0.html

"David Dieppe was on holiday in Peru, with the Oasis travel company and went missing on Tuesday evening (1900 local 7 Aug) from the coastal village of Chala (390m south of Lima) and has not been seen since.

David is a student at Nottingham University, in the OTC and is aiming for either the Army or the Royal Marines. He has already shown his determination by treking 150miles across the Saraha last year (http://www.bbc.co.uk/nottingham/content/articles/2006/03/25/sand_marathon_feature.shtml)
and in this years Polar Challange.

David is 22, 5'10", caucasian, dark short hair, slim and very fit.

We have no idea what may have happened to David but if anyone is in the area please keep your eyes and ears open, thank you.

Richard "

He has been missing 6 days now - anyone able to assist/offer advice?

I hope all goes well. Is there anything can be done to publisize this young mans disappearance in that part of the world. Maybe Facebook or MySpace? I don't really use them, but just an idea. Has the British embassy been contacted?

Thanks Tigs - all that and much more being done. The Foreign Office is, apparently, being its usual useless self. Latest from someone in touch with the family:

"Many thanks to all of you with your suggestions, both the posts and the private messages, much appreciated and all passed back to David's family.

Although there has been a huge effort by search and rescue locally to the camp where David was staying, so far no luck in finding him. So if your in the area please keep a lookout.

Any other suggestions or clues would be welcome (anyone who doesnt want to post please pm me), meanwhile if any of you feel inclined I'm sure prayers wouldnt go amiss.

thanks again, Richard"
