View Full Version : Making a mockery of London's EGR 160 ?

At about 0530 this morning in London, my attention was drawn to the skies. A beautiful sight - a hot air balloon drifting at low level across EGR 160. My guesstimate is that it lifted somewhere in Hammersmith/Fulham and proceeded on a light breeze towards the eastern side of the capital.

A gorgeous, lovely thing to see.

And how wonderful that the balloon seems not to suffer the same strictures as single-engine aircraft trying to operate in the same are ?

Did this require an Exemption ? What procedures are in placed to ensure safe separation from LHR landing traffic ? And how are the public on the ground protected ?

Was it a twin burner or a single ? :ugh:

What procedures are in placed to ensure safe separation from LHR landing traffic ?

The same as any other flying object low level over London.

(i.e. it is given a squawk, identified and given a "not above xxxx feet restriction) :ugh::{

Been done many times - and discussed on here loads.
