I read somewhere that this aircraft will be used for "air experience" flights.

Does anyone know any more about this? Would certainly save money on going to Iran to fly on a Saha Air 707!

My wife and I saw it on Saturday - all over grey and just a graphic on the nose. G-INFO has no information on G-RAAF but the FAA does list N707QJ as current. Is it in the process of being changed to G-RAAF does anyone know please?

Saw the wonderful sight as it approached TFS on 8th December. Well done to everyone involved in the project.

This aircraft still remains stored at Manston. For those who are interested, there is a dvd available tracking it from Australia. It shows the preparation, getting the engines fitted and the journey all the way through to the landing in the UK.

A year on....and the aircraft is still parked up. The tyres were pumped up a few weeks ago but no other sign of it doing anything :(

Another year passes. Any updates on the RAAF 707 at Manston? I just watched the '707 Skywards' Avion DVD covering its ferry flights.

It was used the other week for a major exercise using the emergency services, but is now back in the same trusty parking spot. No sign of anything happening.

This is very sad news to a number of people down under. The gentleman who acquired this aeroplane and flew it back to the UK came to the rescue of the Qantas 707 VH-XBA when serious problems emerged with one of the engines during the restoration at Southend. By way of returning the favour, a group of XBA's engineers assisted to get the former RAAF 707 airworthy at Amberley for its ferry flight to Manston. (Ironically, it was effectively exchanging one former Saudi 707 for another!) I can't begin to imagine how disappointing this must be for the owner as he had big plans for the aeroplane. It's a real pity that the aeroplane couldn't be saved because, in the opinion of one of the XBA engineers, she was a real peach.

To close the file on this aeroplane I would appreciate a few progress reports on her demise.

What a great shame. Should have been flown to the desert for storage and kept in the desert, from cultural to geographical. Anywhere in the UK, or Europe for that matter, is no place to store an aircraft.

Heard its become a donor aircraft with parts being used to keep another aircraft in the air. The cockpit is supposedly going to be kept for a museum.

This aircraft is now gone. The cockpit section is all that remains.
