Have not been in Bogota in years and have to fly a corporate aircraft there in a couple of weeks. Staying there overnight or possibly two nights then heading out again.

Anyone has any suggestions on descent hotels in Bogota and not too far from the airport? We usually use Marriott but none in the country so Hilton is next on the list.

Also assume that we should get the handlers to provide secure transportation to the hotel? Have heard too much about kidnappings and robberies in Bogota so not real excited about using a normal taxi.

TIA,

I think you will be pleasantly surprise with Bogota. As with any major metropolitan city in the world you should use common sense as you move around the city. The Hilton hotel is a good choice but I suggest checking out the Bogota Plaza hotel in the northern part of town. Their service is impeccable and you'll be close to an array of European-like shopping areas as well as an incredible selection of restaurants.

If you have time, go see the salt cathedral in Zipaquira (about an hour drive from Bogota), also go up to Monserrate via cable car to get a spectacular view of the city.

Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks for the heads up and glad to have the name of two hotels to try.

Doubt that we will have much time to sight-see but thanks anyway.

We stayed in the Sheraton - Four Points Bogota Hotel when visiting Colombia last month. The hotel is the closest 'international' hotel to the airport, and is located just off the freeway heading from the airport to the city. It's about 3 miles from the airport.

We were there for 3 nights, and had no problems at all.
