Migrate to Australia. Just pass your medical & meet a few conditions & keep flying.:)

I had to quit flying in India when I turned 60, so I'm surprised if you're still flying there.

Age for retirement from flying was increased from 60 to 65 in India in November 2005.
Migrating appears to be a very big leap & also perhaps time consuming. To start with, is it possible to (a) come on work permit as an individual or (b) get sponsered from my Indian Company to one in Australia?
Could you please give contact particulars of some Austalian helicopter Companies? My Indian Cpl is endorsed with AS 365N2, AS355N, Bell206L4, Bell47G5, Alouette, Agusta109C.

No limit on instructing after 65, at least not in the UK.

Why do you still want to continue flying helicopters after age 65?

Thanks for the advice Rotorfossil. I became an instructor in 1966! Renumeration not being the overriding criterea any longer, one would like to continue for the fun of it & to travel.
I feel that I have had enough of circuits & landings.

Hi Gabra1,
I could give several logical reasons to want to fly after age 65.
Perhaps it will suffice to say----- BECAUSE!

Go to the CASA website to get the details of obtaining an Australian licence. The first thing is an ARN number, you can do this by fax. You will need a validation for your Indian licence and over the age of 65 you will not get a public transport validation because your Indian one won't allow it.. You get a CPL(H) private category validation. All you Indian qualifications and medical have to be up-to-date. Once this has been done you have to take the Australian CPL law exam and the medical. Finally a proficiency check by a CASA endorsed examiner. All this has to be done in Australia and can be done on a tourist visa. Keep the receipts and claim back the VAT. To work there requires a working visa and you will have to find an employer who will sponser you. I did it for an ATPL(H) but I got some guidence from my parent company. The licencing personnel are the most helpful I have ever known, Gatwick take note, and they smoothed the path somewhat.

I really dont think anyone would sponsor an overseas 65 year old to come and work in Australia. I dont think DIMIA would go for it. There are heaps of people around with good qualifications who are much younger than this pilot, why wouldnt a company pick one of them instead?
If you were already here and working there would be no reason to stop if you wanted to continue flying.
Good luck with it anyway

I agree Heliringer. There is no shortage of CPL VFR pilots in Oz. What they are after is ATPL(H) IFR captains with stacks of offshore experience.
