Hi all,

I was due to fly last night (18:45, 1/7/07) on MON5279 from SSH to LGW, however on arrival at the airport we were informed that "due to technical problems" the equipment was to be changed. The flight was the return of MON5278 LGW-SSH, which 1 week earlier was an Airbus 330 carrying 361 pax/crew.

The flight was replaced with 2 aircraft (Both B757), having flight numbers MON5279 and MON8851 (which I was put on, eventually departing @ ~22:00).

We were told by our tour contact in SSH that there had been a specific threat against the flight and the equipment was "in quarantine" at SSH and replacement equipment was being sent from the UK. Can anyone confirm/deny this rumour and/or let this curious PAX know what the problem was.

I would like to say thanks to the crew, at least one of which was called in from standby, and the others who had been due to fly to Crete that evening.

BTW, that 757 which brought us home was exceedingly uncomfortable compared to the bus that took us out.

Best regards

Drichard
