Hiya y'all! Been watching the posts on "SA Airlink" started by Speedbird59 with interest. Anyone out there with any views to flying on the East Coast? I may be required to do some Aid flying out there shortly and could do with any Top Tips!!! The story from the South looks none too healthy. I was out there myself some years back now so times have changed - just a tad! Anyone with any views to Ops in and around Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania? Any gen most gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation!

Hi there " Hot & High"
I spent many years flying in East Africa and with fond memories. There is not too much to say other than be aware of the density altitude. Conversion of your licence to a Kenyan one, should this be required is a tedious time consuming process. Corruption is rife in the DGCA.
There are many operators on Wilson Airport, the GA airport for Nairobi. I recommend the flying Doctors and Boskovic Air Charters for good sound info on airstrip condition etc.
Hope this has been of some help

Hi VM,

Thanks for your reply. Will chase up leads for some ideas. Still not sure if I will have to go out there - will find out in the New Year.

Hope life in Singers is OK. Had several visits out there over the years and enjoyed the City. As for Chilli Crab - Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!!!

H & H, mail me with a bit more info on where exactly you will be going, flying what etc and I may be able to help. I was out there a few years ago but I doubt the basics have changed. Also got a big piece on African ops too large for here!

Hi Capt Waffoo,

Thanks for the post. Had a meeting with Company earlier today and Africa is now out the picture. Thanks though for the offer of info but looks like I'll be remaining here in the UK now.

Regards, H 'n' H

But ipanema is still looking. I had an email from what seemed to be an operator in Africa, but with further lack of contact it seems it may have been just a prank.

I'll look at anything and everything in Africa and PNG (and anywhere else) - I have BN2/DHC6 hot/rough terrain experience, and the airfields in the PNG photos I saw posted around the Pprune don't look all that bad.

13K+ TT, 4K+ P1 Islander/Trislander, 4K+ P1 Twotter, 3K+ P2 Dash-8.

Any and all contacts acknowledged and appreciated.

Thanks in advance... <img src="smile.gif" border="0">

ipanema - hope that you get that job. It is quite amazing the fallout from that one day in Sept! Sorry I can't help more. Anyway, good luck in your quest.
