I'm having a sound problem with my Compaq V6000 laptop running Vista.

I suspect the problem is with Skype-I can hear a dial/ring etc tone when I call but not getting sound from anything else.

Any ideas?

All I can think of is to check the mixer - look for any sliders at zero, or muted. If it's fine without Skype running, then you're probably looking at Skype (or its settings) as the problem.
