Extract from The Citizen article.

"The two cats were being loaded onto an SAA plane when their container fell & burst open on the tarmac. One of the cats died later of its injuries while the other ran away and has not been seen since.
SAA,s Rich Mkhondo last night shrugged off responsibility, saying "accidents happen. Some people get injured while they are on a plane. There are accidents everywhere, not only on SAA. You cannot say 'now that I've given my cat to SAA, everything is going to be okay'.Owners should also take responsibility by ensuring the containers are strong enough and by insuring their pets".

Well thats allright then. Now we have a clear statement about how SAA feel about their pax and their baggage. "Accidents Happen"
I could put a telling and sarcastic comment against every line of Mr Mkhondo's statement, but whats the point. It is all so obvious.
The other poor moggy probably got run over by the latest bunch of robbers roaming round the tramac waiting for the next freighter to land. How long before we get a pax robbery as they disembarking
on the more distant areas of 'C' & 'D' aprons.

As overheard by one Rabbi at a certain young mans ceremony........."It wont be long now"

Don't always believe what you read in the press. I actually saw the container that the pets were in today. As it happens, Apron Services were responsible! Too many people enjoy SAA Bashing when often problems are caused by Service Providers.

Yes, SAA is not perfect, but then you tell me about an airline that is. People try hard to get it right - there are those that let the side down but by and large people are all doing their best.

Interestingly enough, the bashers are usually those on the outside that want to be on the inside

Freightman, dont get so testy. ALL airlines suck at some time, just happens that SAA is sucking more than usual. I doubt if you have been SLF on SAA lately, but I did Business and First Class both on that airline. Quite frankly it was the equivalent of Coach on Virgin.

Yes Freightman. SOME apologies due to SAA. Today we learn that the container was put in the shade. Good Move. But then it was forgotten and run over by a truck. And yes it was Apron services that was responsible. But what still gets me is the Statement from Mkhongo which was crass in the extreme.
But again this is what we are reading in the press so it may also be wrong.
I did hear that 702 were going to try and get him on air on the JCW show Thursday so perhaps we can get clarification of the SAA attitude. It just seems to me that his original statement DID embody a lot of what is wrong with SAA today.

Please excuse my ignorance, but who the $%$@ is Rich Mkhondo?

Moral of the story: Don't send the BOYs to buy the beer!
