Rumor has it, that AeroSur (Bolivia) is in the process of obtaining ACMI of a 747-200 (or 300) through NEA (NorthEast Airlines) of Miami. In the recent past, AeroSur had leased 747s from Air Plus Comet (747-287) and also from Logistic Air (747-SR46) to operate their Madrid flights.

NorthEast bad reputation is notorious in the ACMI airline annals.. Search their records in Haj operations (abandon of crews in Jeddah, unpaid hotels, unpaid crew salaries, and L-1011 airplanes seized in Africa for unpaid fuel bills). Shall we also mention the DC8F (and its crew) abandoned in Luanda... It appears that MM. Glenn Heikkila and Eric Paillet (NEA heads) are at it again...

Further, the airplane they now would sub-lease would be a 747-312 that they claim having obtained from Corsair, while that very same aircraft is in fact slated to be converted in beer cans and kitchen utensils.

I would caution any aspiring 747 crewmembers and technical staff, to be careful in dealing with NEA in this new venture. Any contract with NEA, which operates with an AOC from Swaziland, is not worth the paper value. Heikkila and Paillet are probably just merely trying to stuff their pockets with a sizeable unrefundable deposit in their offshore accounts. As for AeroSur, I hope they will survive this unsuitable selection for ACMI operation. It is regrettable that they failed to look in Pprune rumors of NEA's antecedents...
