Walking around LHR today I reminded myself how bad FOD is for aircraft engines by chucking a few BAA officials down my GE powered beastie.

Why oh why oh why do we have so much crap lying around Londons major airport aprons. What a great ambasador to visitors to the UK than a load of crap, detatched baggage labels, empty or disgusting food wrappers and what might as well be used elephant condoms lying around the place. What the heck is being done about it.... Build another terminal and start again gov!!!!!

No wonder the Germans think LHR is the Lagos of Europe.

"now freindly bomb fall on Slough (and Heathrow) it's not fit for humans now......"

so blah blah blah blah blah.... Blah blah... Health and safety.... Blah blah blah... Hi viz jackets.... Blah blah blah blah.... Access denied.. Wrong zone.... Blah blah blah.... Not my job gov..... Blah blah blah...... Engine fails, pilot puts in inappropriate rudder/aileron input because building a reliable engine isn't his job... Plane crashes... People die... Suddenly it's the pilots fault.... Pilot if still alive is sent to jail..... If not alive his next of kin is made to suffer for the rest of thieir life. Yet tw@<hidden> that leave FOD on the apron everyday have nowt to do with this.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!

In 1997, I approached BAA at LGW with a business proposal to run crews round the apron clearing FOD. I got told where to go. True that is.

If, i'm not mistaken it is everybody's reaponability to remove FOD so the answer "not my job gov" is wrong:eek: airfield ops @<hidden> MAN govern this to all handling agents and perform checks on stand before every arrival, it is then the pushback teams job to ensure all FOD is moved before pushback, now don't get me wrong this works in theory and not always practice, but seems to be most effective procedure:ok:

I thought Heathrow already had a tradition that anything not tied down was quickly removed by a member of staff.....

Would this be the crew inside the aircraft who spend most of thier time telling freeloaders that they can't have an upgrade even if they are the chief toilet roll dispenser for europes' offspring?

Personally. I don't care who cleans up the apron around my jet. I really don't mind if they wear a dinner suit or a jockstrap. I do mind when some arse tells me I should be wearing a stupid yellow jacket when the almighty himself is standing infront of my engine acting as a human chock!!

No wonder the Germans think LHR is the Lagos of Europe. Come off it! I don't think Terminal Three is as good as that yet!

Though they have put down some new lino recently and a couple of the escalators actually work now... :hmm:

And if litter is bad for the relatively higher located civil aviation engines (and it IS!) can you imagine what a thorough bollox it is for the military jets!??! :ugh:

Yeah, jet engines suck.

The harder they suck the better. Just watch Hounslow dissapear down a 777 engine next time they set TOGA.

Hmmmm.... That's given me an idea!!! :hmm:
