Sorry for the 'this seems odd' type post.
Was tootling about around the Bala area and Lake Vewvnwey (cant remember the exact name but it had lots of V's and W's in it's title). I was driving up a long stretch of road on to the top of the moors in that locality, shrouded in mist, when i saw a jet come past me executing a lovely flowing right turn.

now obviously, driving at the time and concentrating hard in the poor weather i convinced myself it was a bucc. it had a high tail, and the obvious bucaneer type round engines on the wing nearest the fuselage.
now when i was a spacey, i won prizes for my a.c recognition, but not having seen a bucc for some years i thought they were all grounded apart from the ones in thunder valley. are any privately owned now?

were my eyes playing games with me? or did all that time spent as a spacey serve me well? irrespective of type, it was a majestic sight, with it appearing out of the mirk and turning away, although i did wonder how it managed to avoid CFIT in the conditions.

apols for poor grammar, but im tired and its late.

HHA at Scampton got permission from the CAA about a year ago to operate their Bucc in the UK, so if it was a Bucc you saw it could only have been this one, pressumably on paid contract work I guess.

It's very unlikely that it was a Buccaneer. As mentioned, there's only one aircraft with any prospect of flying in the UK and it has remained firmly grounded, so unless there have been any rapid developments (and judging by the number of spotters in this country, I think we'd have known about it!), then the HHA Buccaneer is still very much on the ground. Besides, even if it had finally got airborne, I don't think there would be much chance of it suddenly appearing on a low level flight. Be nice it it was a Buccaneer but very unlikely!

You should come out to Cape Town, they fly over my house from the mountains quite a lot! Just awesome :ok:
Had the SAAF Gripen from the Flight Test and Development Centre at Bredasdorp over the beach a few days ago!
