Yep they still alive....... had an email from them few weeks back.... well I censored the first reply !!! what a bunch of arrogant ars#holes....talking of emails I also saw an email lately, addressed to one of there fellow staff members....Man you wouldn't catch me dead working for them...mind you I dont !! :)

I still hear they pay lower than hours requirments,(To quote another posting refering to Solenta), then they put you in the ops (sorry Jokers, idiots and genuine wannabees) section for 6 months, then when have learned a kak attitude, and begged and pleaded they might just send you out into the field to fly as co pilot, bonded for god only knows how much, and paid even less than what you started on, no chance of promotion as you can't get the command hours... mmmmmmmm the list goes on.....

I was going to add If I was spoken too the way they speak to their own staff... well I was !!.... my suggestion RossAir.... learn to talk to people like humans and learn some manners then maybe you will keep the good guys, attract the better types from the cesspool they call aviation and you will have a much happier and loyal crowd of pilots working with you .... not just for you.... but hey then again you guys at the top don't seem to give a sh#t... rumours of course...

Will probably get flak from this but hey, where I am beers cold and almost free... :D :D

So, J.D....

You must know "Braindead" then.

And of course, let's not forget the "Udder Professional" who took 34 minutes from the time he started #2 on a 1900D (#1 had yet to turn) until he taxied. And this was a med-evac from PNR.

I do know many good guys working there, however, so even if the top is tainted, the guys in the trenches are sometimes ok...

That cant be brain dead Ed perhaps ??

I think most of the good guys left after they got stiffed for the SAA FNG's who were put on the new A/C ahead of the old hands...shame really.... but PR dont seem to be their strong point....

Mind you last FNG that tried to be better than the rest got his feet burnt (lighter fluid when he passed out) and face decorated with permanent marker....shame !!

Did meet a guy who started with braindead... Dan, the Fire Man...... now he was a character and a half....

:)

One and the same "Brain Dead" I also heard about the "lighter fluid" incident.

Not in PNR, however...

Blue Bro',

My info says "the man?" (you mean the wuss Braindead) actually had his hair dryer coils cut, but his luck held. PC's, Check Rides, Hair Dryers, all the same for "Brain Dead".

Did you guys knnow he's a Freemason and he dyes his hair red to get rid of the gray?

So Blueline, did JJ tell you who I was at Halloween? With authentic dress I was shades of Capt "O".

Allah Akbar...

Blueline and DI3G, what do you think is the best part of Africa... For me it was the part when I got off the airplane in Europe, home sweet home. Not looking forward to going back. But what can you do. Beggars cannot choose.

I hear braindead has been sighted in somewhere around Raleigh-Durham in the past few weeks. He has been looking for a new hairdryer and a net to keep rocks of his roof.
Also heard that JJ sightings in Miami are to increase quite a lot in the next few weeks.

Questioooooon! is it true that you get quite plump on all Rossair contracts???

DownIn3Green
16th Nov 2001, 04:05
JJ...you Clown...see you when you git here...

Are you talking "plump" as in "chubby"?

In this case I think ole' Blue has it in for Miss Stinky, the one eyed maid...

Try www.rossair.co.za (http://www.rossair.co.za)

You will find info from their site. Looks like they are using a clearing house of somekind to do prescreening. Youīll also find info on this from Rossairīs webpages.

Cheers.

Hey guys, dont slate them to much. Who else will hire no time pilots, put them into a reliable, respectable aircraft. They get good hours and a great start for a future. But then.....where else can you not get paid for a while, live in a tent during seasonal flooding, get shot at, deal with rabid dogs, animals with anthrax, no spares,Taliban, Somali's, Sudanese, Angolan's, Algerians, and other nice mannered folkas well as clients with attitude..then again...where else can you meet lovely nurses, irish lasses, aussie shella's, and naive americans. Could be fun ya?....May the war never end! :D

saw your references to PNR and had a few chuckles. :) :) :) I'm sure we met in Jun/Jul this year; you gave us a lift back to Brazza to fetch the a/c after the lebs decided to send us home with the Antonov!
You still doing that thing in PNR?
Remember; "pull my chain, and the toilet will flush"

In reply to Jam Donuts initial diatribe against rossair, I would just like to say that the recruiting system that he seems to have a problem with must infact be working very well if it was able to keep persons like himself out of the company. I took the opportunity to take a look at your profile and this seems to explain alot about yourself and possibly why your application to rossair was met with so little enthusiasm.

It appears that Jam Donut's facts are way off regarding salaries and pilot moral at the moment.

Inspite of the worldwide slowdown in avaiation rossair appears to be going from strength to strength and many new contracts are being started as I write this, keep your eyes open for them in North Africa and the middle east.

Jam Donut should possibly put less emphasis on his prediliction for cold beer and sex (see his profile) and slaging off potential employers and concentrate more on improving his personality.

Profiles here are usually a joke. If you believe most of them, you have a problem......Have a Castles, life is too short to be that serious......

emcrit,

Well said! I think you hit the nail right on the head with some of your comments. Every company has it's problems but it doesn't help to whine and moan if it doesn't all go your way.
I also whine like a stuck pig on occaison but I still had some of my best times ever flying for Rossair.
Question: If the company is so bad, why are they still expanding and employing pilots?

No, you were definitely the fair-skinned bwana in the left seat!
I was only there for a few weeks and spent most of it lying on my back watching wimbledon!
The day you gave us a lift, we had a bit of an altercation with one of your ops guys as he reckoned he needed to sit on the jumpseat to do his paperwork.
anyway, I was just curious

Yes, I remember it well...the ops guy was an on going thing, but got it sorted out finally just before I left in Oct...anyway, once again it looks like I may be going back, not PNR, but another similiar vacation getaway spot...

Finally !!
Thanks to Tokoloshe and Emcrit for being positive about Rossair, just what I have been asking for some time.
2002 will see Rossair growing even more and EMPLOYING GUYS, this while other airlines reduce their crew, ask the Comair guys awaiting VERDICT ON LAY OFFS.
Thanks to the aviators that have positive and TRUE facts on this forum, may all your aviation dreams come true this year.

Tok, dat you bwana Tosh?

If so, how's the Boeing 4-engine electronic game treating you?

Also spent some time in Rossair having loads of fun and leading the glamorous, devil may care life of those who have access to cheap booze. Apart from some hassles with ops regarding decisions being made affecting people 2000 miles away without first getting the relevant information and some covering of crony type butts by a certain individual it went pretty well, all things considered. Certainly having far less of a fine time in my present position but all good things must end...

Had a lot of fun flying for Rossair, and worked with some of the best people in the industry...certainly wish I could import a few of them to where I am now, would certainly liven things up a little!. .You always have the odd gripe wherever you go, but overall Rossair is a good setup, particularly when you think of what is actually achieved, and the logistics behind it all.. .From the guys and gals in OPS, to the pilots and engineers out in the field, a good crowd and I sure miss 'em all!! If you ever downgrade from good sturdy Beech aircraft to cheap 'n nasty Hyundai 145 BendyJets, call me, I'll be back!!!. .A Great New Year to everyone!!. .Cheers,. .Np.

Ipanema, I've read that the way to get a job in Africa is to go there and eyeball it in person. Maun, Botswana has a lot of charter operators flying the safari crowds around. . .www.solenta.com is another possibility although I think you are WAY overqualified. . .Good Hunting.

ipanema
24th Jan 2002, 05:29
Solenta was covered some time back, never heard from them again. I just blew in again and the thankyou page says they have no vacancies but will keep my resume on file for 6 months.

Ho-hum.

Plus, I just blew US$6,000 travel and other expenses on two jobs that did not work out. I'm not about to go blasting off to Africa to be told everywhere I go that there are no vacancies.

Sorry, but there's only so much water in the cup. When it runs out somebody gets thirsty - and that somebody is me.

Landing on the doorstep is easy for some to say, but I'm many thousands of miles away and I am NOT going on Safari without somebody expecting me. :)

And I think that with my experience if somebody really has a vacancy and is not in it to take advantage (I'm not desperate for either total time or turbine time) they will be in touch.

All thoughts much appreciated and leads followed... keep 'em coming!!

Hey Cardinal Puff!

aaaishh! you must be too clever. :) Where on earth are you now? drop us a line sometime. . .I heard that you were interested in the pinnochio thing at one stage. Also believe that the NBO thing is gone too. I was in Loki a few months ago and at least got to see the new fireproof "Hilton"

As for that thing with the hair-dryers on the wings, it's great. . .Miss the good times though..... .Actually, send me an e-mail and I'll give you all the gaff.

Eeeeweh, Bwana Tok!

Much thought but looks like pinocchio option a go. Your email doesn't seem to be available but will keep trying. Outta here for a couple of weeks in rice country but will keep in touch on the boards..... Must be nice when a busty hostie leans over you and whispers breathily in your ear "Would you like the lobster or the smoked salmon for lunch?".

We can only dream down here in the weeds....
