.flv files

I have aquired a .flv file but I don't want to show the sender my ignorance by admitting that I don't know how to play it!

I downloaded and installed, one at a time, several freeware flv players but all of them report invalid file in the application when launched. I suspect that none of the players can run on a Win98 machine.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Hi Andrew,

It's a Flash file. You should be able to run it using the standard Adobe flash player, which is Win98 compatible:

...it certainly plays .flv's but I can't vouch for Win98 (think it will be OK).

that is just as at home on a PC as it is on USB flash etc.

I think you will find this is OK to stream and view a flash file 'inbound', but quite another thing to 'open with' and play a .flv file on your hard drive.

That said, I have read recently that Adobe are looking at a proposal to produce just such a player.
