I'm having problems copying to my DVD-RW using windows XP. It's not able to recognise the RW disc.
However, when I copy music using windows media player there is no problem.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
many thanks :ok:

Hi Absolutely Fabulous,
As far as i'm aware, the 'Burning' utility built into Windows XP does not support DVD-R/RW, hence the reason it only works okay using Windows Media. However, there may be a 'hotfix' around online, it might be worth popping onto the Support (http://support.microsoft.com/) page.
Alternatively, there's far better programmes out there for DVD Recording, try having a look at Nero Burning Rom, I think there's a 15 day trial on the site and is very easy to use. Or, if you go here (http://www.downloads.com), and type in 'DVD Recording', it'll bring up a whole host of freeware/payware DVD Recording programmes.
Hope that's of some use,
Cheers,
Geoff

Just been looking at my user guide for the HP pavilion running XP. Might help? on my pc "DVD-R/DVD-RW will not 'burn' in the DVD writer drive" Only DVD+R or DVD+RW. Then I use the Arcsoft ShowBiz2 that comes with XP to burn.

Could always try updating the drive firmware.
