Have a look at this link, which suggests that the Canadians are moving to self-regulation where Transport Canada will no longer do inspections of the helicopter industry

Given the high costs that the CAA are charging us, with further big price rises being planned, should we not press for self-regulation too?

It would sure get my vote: the CAA have clearly lost any sense of direction in EASA-land. Last time I asked, 'big' B206 technical questions are now derogated to the German Authority, but the CAA don't really know which ones to refer and which ones not to...
