hello everyone.

would anybody have any information regarding oasis hong kong airlines, specifically regarding captain vacancies? are they actually upgrading first officers to captain, or are they only hiring direct entry captains?
i have heard through the grape vine that currently captain upgrades are only issued to people who are part of the "club" ie. friends with management pilots. i am a current 400 driver, and am considering applying for a fo position, but i am worried about the command upgrade issue. will this airline work on a strict seniority system?

thanks much for information that could be shared.

55000 + 25000 to 60000+ 30000?
Thanks

If the package has improved then they are getting warmer!
What is the command pay now?
One way to find out is to go down to slashers and ask.

The $25k maximum is less then half what CX and Dragon offer, and is no-where near enough for anything suitable for a Westerner moving to HK

What??? CX housing allowance is HK$26,000/month. Do your math again.

Yankeeone,
Base pay is HK$56K, housing HK$24K and per diem is $136/day.

Er, actually the CX base rate (ie cash in hand) is currently HK$24,000/month. With a lease, the 'rent free zone' (RFZ) becomes HK$52,000/month, ie the company pays ALL the rent up to that amount. For monthly rents above the RFZ, the company will provide Captains and FOs (with more than 8 years service) with rental assistance at 92% of the monthly rent up to a 'rent ceiling'. The current rent ceiling for Captains is HK$81,700/month.

The 26K/month at CX is the 50% for the RFZ. Eg 26K(HKd)/month is correct for the first 24months of employment with the worlds most admired airline :D (Cathay). After 24months its 100% RFZ eg 52K/months.

Just to clarify. And I agree if you want something decent for more than a single bloke - the 26K/month is not enough for a westener in the nice areas of HK. :ok:

My apologies - the figures I quoted above (ie $24,000/$52,000/month) are for JFOs and above.

To clarify:

SOs with up to 2 years service get a base rate of HK$14,000/month or 50% of the RFZ if they take out a lease, ie HK$26,000/month.

SOs with more than 2 years service get a base rate of HK$18,000/month and the full RFZ (HK$52,000/month) with a lease.

Still, that's all a bit academic. I agree that HK$24,000/month isn't nearly enough to provide a reasonable standard of accommodation for a 'western' family moving to Hong Kong.

I was wondering if anybody would be able to tell me if it is a good idea to drop off your resume at the office at citygate or if this would be a bad step to take.

Do it coastrider, no wait, drop it off at the slashers and you will get an instant interview or even a job offer.
