I know of guys with 4-5000TT, 1500+ corporate jet command and were only offered SO interviews. It seems even for SOs at all you need 3000TT and 1000 turbine, so I wouldn't get your hopes up yet.

IMHO, you're about 2500 short of practical miniumums for a DEFO position.

We have 6000 hour S/O's in HKG with heavy time, and DEFO's with 4000 hours + and 1000 PIC on light jets or T/P's.

You will spend at least two months (perhaps more) in HKG on induction training and will return to HKG regularly on line trips and RT/PC's (semi-annually). Command training is also done in HKG, although it will be a while before you are either up to speed on the B744 or understand Cathay's complex FOM's to give command a serious try. Cathay expect a high standard of technical knowledge and a demonstrated high standard of ability. The command course is NOT a "no jeopardy" manoevre. Caveat Emptor.

No harm in trying, good luck to you.

WTF is an FOM ??? I know we are short of Captains but advising on the command course with 1500 Hours light aircraft time ??

note to self: ask someone about "Cathays Complex FOM" next time I go to work...............................(Hope it involves sex, drugs and rock n roll)

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's a Flight Operations Manual. Pretty common terminology me thinks. Come on sizey, lets try and think outside of the box a little bit. :ok:
